When we first assessed 1 Brunswick Square it had been empty for five years and had fallen into disrepair. Our challenge was to bring it back to life and attract tenants in the Technology, Media and Telecoms sectors. We began by changing the entrance, developing a stripped industrial aesthetic and applying for a change of use to introduce a café. We remodelled the façade with vertical glazing and added a large shower block in the basement car park. Gaining planning and listed building consents for all this was always going to be challenging and we pioneered a consultation process with Bristol City Council that made it all possible.
