We’d like you to get to know us a bit better so welcome to the news,
reviews and insights from the Mansfield Monk team.
Lighting plays a pivotal role in office design and creating the perfect atmosphere. Whether it’s ambient or accent lighting, functional or aesthetic, the mood and usability of a space can depend on it. It’s also a fast-paced, ever-evolving industry.
The team at Mansfield Monk are always interested in finding out about new and innovative lighting solutions so we asked Charlie Petschi at Atrium Lighting;
“What are the top lighting trends of 2023?”
1. Miniaturisation
Perfect for tight spots, and near invisible, the progression of miniature lighting shifts the focus from the light fitting to the projection with no reduction on quality of light.
Flos – Light Shadow Dots
Featuring extreme beam control and maximum quality of light distribution with a size of only 30mm.
Flos – Micro Running Magnet
Ultra-miniaturised light fittings in recessed and surface versions with a profile of only 5mm designed to disappear almost completely. With magnetic fixings they can be easily adjusted or moved, even while still on, making them highly flexible.
2. Sustainability
With the concept of circular design and recycling at the heart of their designs these sustainable lighting solutions consider the environmental impact without compromising the visual impact.
Patricia Urquiola – Almendra
Inspired by fruit and resembling an almond shell, the Almendra system is modular, customisable and extensible. The light is made from a polycarbonate derived from a by-product of paper production and, due to the lack of adhesives used, the system can be easily disassembled for recycling at the end of its cycle.
Flos – Eclectic
A recessed indoor luminaire, the Eclectic light has a modular, obsolescence-proof design; it can be broken down into modules which are marketed as individual products and are easily replaceable giving it a circular design.
Flos Jasper Morrison Oplight
The Oplight from Flos is totally and easily recyclable with no solvents used in the production process. The wall mounted uplighter comes in two sizes and uses an LED source with a lifetime of more than 50,000 hours.
3. Light Comfort
Thanks to a revolution in low glare lighting you can now have the ideal balance of visual comfort and high performance lighting.
Flos – Light Shadow
With a patented optical group the Flos Light Shadow is a highly efficient, compact fitting. With a cut-off of 45 degrees it creates a defined beam with total shading and outstanding glare protection.
Flos – Oblique and Oblique Floor
Available as a table or floor lamp the Oblique task light provides exceptional anti-glare protection with a UGR lower than 10 created by a controlled asymmetric light beam.
